195 Piccadilly News
Welcome to 2014!
With the New Year well and truly underway, it's time to reflect on a great 2013 at BAFTA 195 Piccadilly, with the venue having played host to a variety of fabulous events throughout the year.
March saw 15,000 of the world's sharpest creative minds descend upon London for Advertising Week Europe (pictured below), with BAFTA 195 Piccadilly receiving the honour of hosting the event's first European launch. In May, the capital was swept up in Great Gatsby fever, and we were delighted to host Tatler's Great Gatsby party with glamorous, '20s-inspired revelries where the Mint Juleps flowed freely. The cinematic theme continued in October with Eat Film, part of the London Restaurant Festival, when Jonathan Ross played host to a special screening of Spirited Away, accompanied by a delicious Japanese banquet created by Head Chef Anton Manganaro. Discover more of 195 Piccadilly's highlights of 2013.

Meanwhile, we're already planning some interesting events in 2014, with the Tasting Notes Masterclass series getting underway at the end of February when we will be hosting a Traditional Tea Ceremony with our partners Fortnum & Mason, to celebrate Chinese New Year. Until then, the team at BAFTA 195 Piccadilly would like to thank you for your support in 2013 and wish you and your colleagues a very successful and eventful 2014!

Lime Light Cocktail
Recipe: Lime Light Cocktail
In homage to the glitz and glamour of the Film Awards, BAFTA 195 Piccadilly's Bar Manager Graham Lloyd-Bennett has come up with a luxuriant cocktail you can enjoy in the 195 Bar or recreate at home…
Lime Light Cocktail
50ml Sipsmith gin
25ml peppermint and cucumber syrup
15ml fresh lime juice
Celery bitters
Shake the ingredients over ice and serve garnished with a ribbon of cucumber, and a peppermint and cucumber ice ball. Delicious and refreshing.
Food at the EE British Academy Film Awards
This year, Anton has created the canapés which will be served during the Royal Opera House reception at this year's EE British Academy Film Awards. It can be challenging to create over 8000 canapés, but Anton has chosen a couple, scaled-down of course, which you can prepare at leisure in your own kitchen. Happy cooking!
Recipe: Smoked Lancashire trout on preserved lemon and dill scones
Rillettes
300g smoked trout from the Dutch Eel Company, skinned, boned and flaked
1 teaspoon of grated fresh horseradish
Zest and juice of 1 lemon
200g crème fraîche
Salt and pepper
Tablespoon of chopped dill
Scones
200g self-raising flour
5g baking powder
50g butter
15g sugar
95ml milk
30g of chopped preserved lemon
1 dessert spoon of chopped dill
Sieve the flour, baking powder and salt, and then rub in the butter until reaching a sandy texture. Add the dill and chopped lemon to the sugar and the milk, before gently adding to the dry mixture.
Roll out to 1cm thick using a 3cm cutter, lay out on a non-stick tray and bake for 8–10 minutes, before allowing to cool. To assemble, cut the tops of the scones so they are flat and spoon the rillettes on top, garnished with deep fried leek.
