195 Piccadilly News
Welcome to 2013!

With temperatures plunging below zero and resolutions beginning to grate, the arrival of a new year might not have everyone in the best of spirits, but here at BAFTA 195 Piccadilly there is plenty to celebrate in the coming months.
Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes
Following on from a number of successful tasting events in 2012, BAFTA 195 Bar Manager extraordinaire Graham Lloyd-Bennett and Head Chef Anton Manganaro will be hosting the first event in this year’s Tasting Notes series, a special evening of tutored Champagne tasting on 21 February at 6.30pm, promising to be an evening of sheer indulgence. Please e-mail Shella Palmer if you would like an invitation to this event.
Garden Wedding Receptions
Garden Wedding Receptions
With wedding season fast approaching, we are pleased to announce that we are now able to offer a picturesque garden for receptions in the adjacent grounds of St James’s Church. This new addition to our portfolio, combined with the choice of three elegant rooms licensed for civil ceremonies and the ability to hire the entire building on an exclusive basis makes BAFTA 195 Piccadilly a truly unique venue to host your wedding.
Great Films Arriving This Year

As ever, there are plenty of big Hollywood films set to arrive in 2013, private screenings of which can be arranged for our clients. Screenings can be booked as part of a dinner package, seven days a week…

February: Cloud Atlas
March: Oz The Great And Powerful
April: Iron Man 3
May: The Great Gatsby
June: Man Of Steel
July: The Wolverine

Head of Commercial Events

Can films be screened before they have gone on general release?

The majority of films are possible to view before they go on general release. The only time this would not be possible would be when a film is released in the USA after the UK, or on the same day as the UK.

Are you able to offer screenings on weekends?

We can! The cinema can also be hired with one of our great entertaining spaces, and our in-house team can arrange drinks and catering by Anton Manganaro. On certain weekends of the year you can hire out the whole of 195, which is a wonderful way of incorporating a film into a special event like a Bar Mitzvah or even a wedding.

Could you offer a themed screening, with food and cocktails?

Yes! The Events Team love helping clients with ideas and inspiration for theming an event around the film. We have hosted some incredible events here, including a garden party in our new space that incorporated stunt men on zip-wires, huskies, snow and pyrotechnics! That was for The Bourne Legacy and was a huge success. The post-screening reception was held in the David Lean Room and was transformed into a medical ward, which was a major scene in the film.

This year we are very excited about The Great Gatsby release in May, as there is so much theming potential. We are already planning ideas around speakeasies and prohibition décor! For the kids, Oz The Great And Powerful is going to be a great one for theming, and of course Iron Man 3 and The Hobbit later in the year!

Can screenings be introduced by a critic or talent from the film?

Yes, we work with some amazing talent agencies that are able to help source the right speaker for the right environment, audience and film.
